Our Other Breeds

Everyone here at Mountain Farms has a purpose and our other and mixed bred goats are no exception.

Charlotte is our largest doe by far on the farm and is one of our originals. While she may be a mix of many breeds she will always have a home here with us for many reasons. We are hoping to get a doeling from her before we retire her just to be the matriarch of the herd.

Rosie is a gorgeous Nubian doe and she's Charlotte's buddy. We don't plan on getting into purebred Nubians so Rosie will provide us with some meat kids when crossed with one of our fainters or mini nubian milkers when crossed with one of our Nigerians.

Our mini Lamanchas are here because my oldest daughter absolutely loves them and their little ears. So we will cross Oakley and Kiwi to our Nigerians for more mini milkers.

Pepper i think has amazing confirmation and a beautiful coat. I believe she will produce some great half fainter kids.

Pepper's daughter boo boo will likely either not be bred or will be bred to a Nigerian since she's a pretty tiny lady so far,

Rosie is a beautiful Nubian whom we purchased for a buddy for Charlotte, someone closer to her own size. We are so happy we got Rosie, she is not the stereo typical Nubian. She is super sweet and very friendly. She is quiet, well mannered and a brave girl. She will be the mama to some experimental fainter crosses as well as crossed with some of our Nigerian bucks for Mini Nubian kids.

Charlotte is an exceptionally large dairy bred doe, who has many breeds in her lineage. She is getting older so this year and next we hope to breed her to our biggest myotonic buck in hopes of retaining a large doeling from her to bring some size to our experimental fainter herd. Her sons will be wethered and sold as meat kids.

Pepper goat is quite the goat. I spotted her for sale and saw something in her eyes that was special. She has been through several homes because she was a misbehaving escape artist who was mean to herd mates. When I initially purchased her i figured id keep her for a year and resell her, but.... we have fallen in love with Pepper. She is a very unique goat. She has been well behaved for us and has fit right into our herd. Pepper won't be going anywhere, She will be the mama to some experimental fainters.

Bought from a Boulder Ridge Farm, Northwestern Ontario. Canada

We recently purchased Oakley and her doeling Kiwi this fall for my oldest daughter who always wanted a Mini Lamancha after seeing some shown at a local fair. Oakley is a F1 first generation mini Lamancha goat who are known for large capacity udders and tiny gopher ears. Oakley is a very friendly girl and an asset to our farm. We will breed her to our Nigerians for more mini lamanchas.
