Bucks
One theme you will notice about our breeding bucks is I love the US bloodlines. Our breeding goals is to bring large, very US typey and correct stock to Canadian herds. The gene pool has been too shallow in Canada for too long. We would like our true to breed large myotonics to have a nice medium coat for our long harsh winters( which is why we have silkies in our program. Myotonic goat meat is superior to other meat goat breeds in way of tenderness and quality. We would like to bring the overall size of each animal up to a larger size so that they can compete in the meat goat market, as well as breeding,show and pet markets.
We also breed for great temperaments, polled, and degree of Myotonia. The last thing we look for in breeding stock is color. We realize flashy goats do sell better but we are focused more on true to breed characteristics, and improving udder quality.
Once we are enrolled in the Canadian scrapies program, we can continue to import large, correct bucks from the US. We are very much looking forward to doing so.
