Our breeding goals

We aim to breed true to breed standard, large, and correct u.s type Myotonic goats. We are breeding for these traits first, correct head, eye, and ear set, thick necks, straight balanced top lines, well muscled throughout, large size, ease of kidding, parasite and disease resistance, quality udders and teats, temperament, and degree of myotonia. We are also breeding for naturally polled animals. While we know blue eyes, and flashy colored/ spotted coat patterns is what sells to the new or pet goat owner, we look for these things last.

We would like our goats and offspring to have a nice medium length coat to aid in warmth of our cold Canadian winters, large and well muscled, have great conformation, true to the US type breed standards, correct ear, eye and head set, quality udders, great temperaments, faint, and zero issues with unassisted kiddings, and naturally polled.

We will slowly work towards building a herd of large Myotonics to try and compete with other meat breeds such as Boer goats. Some for breeding stock for breeders who also like that US true to breed look, and some smaller kids for the small homesteader and pet market.

We will also be experimenting with other breeds crossed to our fainter bucks in hopes of breeding some other desirable traits such as size, udder quality, and rate of growth into our commercial meat herd.

We will continue to import large bodied, correct, US true to breed US does from Island Fainters for as long as we can, and we are working on enrolling into the Canadian Scrapies program so that we can import Large, correct Bucks from the best herds throughout the US. We want to bring the best possible Bucks into Canada to enrich the gene pool of Canadian Fainters. Bringing you many great choices for your herd.
