Our Farm Policies
Here at Mountain Farms we have some strict policies that we follow in our day to day lives to ensure our animals are as happy and as healthy as they can be. Our animals are all pets first and foremost but we are also a working livestock farm and that means that sometimes animals that aren't up to par for whatever reason are eaten. Some goat kids are raised solely as meat kids. All of our animals are treated with dignity and respect no what they are destined to be.
Our animals are fed the best quality alfalfa and grass hay we can buy each year. They are also fed a commercial grain ration that I add alfalfa pellets, black oil sunflower seeds, and calf manna to. Free access to quality loose minerals and sweetlix protein blocks.
Hooves are trimmed as needed, and deworming is done as needed. We only vaccinate bucklings who are being banded and turned into wethers to protect from tetanus.
